They asked me what plant I’d want to be
And I said without thinking, “An apple tree”
The interviewer looked puzzled and asked why
“Well … it’s one of the prettiest trees to walk by.”
Have you ever seen an apple tree blossom?
There is nothing that could be more awesome.
To blossom, it needs a sunny place
Reminding me to be happy and full of grace.
The petals are first embracing the pistils,
Exposing the sepals like valuable crystals.
Time passes and flowers open
Reminding me I am not broken.
Toward the light the peduncle points,
Like my new hope when something disappoints.
White and pink petals
Remind me that all things settle.
The white and pink petals curl.
Though the sight not pretty as a pearl,
I know the flower
Will grow into something to give us power.
A flower blossoms with beauty,
But then promises us something fruity.
A flower we see in the spring
In the fall, an apple it will bring.
They asked me what plant I’d want to be
And I said without thinking, “An apple tree.”
